The Jeep Avenger will not make it to the US shores. However, this 2WD, Europe-only EV from Jeep offers a neat package that you cannot be ignored.

The Avenger is Jeep's first BEV, and there is much to be excited about in this 2WD electric SUV from the American brand. It gets the Jeep design DNA and hence looks quite sturdy despite its compact dimensions. It also has a funky and youthful interior that is reasonably practical and spacious. In addition, the Avenger gets an efficient yet powerful electric powertrain and a few off-road chops that promise to make it capable enough despite its front-wheel drive configuration.

However, there is a catch. The Jeep Avenger is a Europe-only model and will not make it to the US shores. But you have nothing to be disappointed about, as Jeep will launch the rad-looking Recon and the sleek Wagoneer S as its first EVs in the United States by 2024.

Though the Avenger will not be available in the US, it comes across as a fantastic package that you cannot ignore. So let's take a closer look at this all-new 2WD Europe-only model from Jeep and see why it marks a significant milestone for electric SUVs.

At 4.1 meters or 161-inches in length, the Avenger is smaller than the Renegade. It gets a 400-volt electric powertrain with a single electric motor that drives the front wheels. A 54 kWh battery pack feeds this electric motor. The total system output stands at 156 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque. You can charge the Avenger from 20-80% from a DC fast-charger in 24 minutes. An 11 kWh charger will juice up the batteries from 0-100% in 5.5 hours.

The Avenger gets a few electronic off-road goodies. Every grade comes as standard with Jeep's Selec-Terrain drive modes. A total of six are available on this e-SUV, including 'Snow,' 'Sand,' and 'Mud.' Hill-descent control is also a standard fitment. Thanks to its compact dimensions and short overhangs, the Avenger gets 20 degrees of approach and 32 degrees of departure angle. It offers a decent ground clearance of 7.9-inches, and its underbody is protected with skid plates.

The cabin of the Avenger draws its inspiration from the Jeep Wrangler. A hint of this shows in the body-colored beam that runs across the dashboard length, giving a nice contrast. For pampering its occupants, this SUV comes with leather seats; at the front, these are electronically adjustable and have a massaging function.

In addition, Jeep has optimized the interior of this vehicle to offer a host of clever storage spaces. For example, there is a nifty rack on the passenger side of the dashboard, while the center tunnel has more than enough to store small bags. Interestingly, the Avenger offers 1.2 cubic feet of storage in the front compartment alone. This space is more than what some EVs provide in their "frunk." At the back, this EV offers 10.8 cu-ft of luggage space which Jeep claims is the largest in this segment.

The Jeep Avenger EV also has a 10.25 touchscreen infotainment system as standard. The digital gauge cluster, though, is available in either a 7-inch or a 10.25-inch configuration. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are also available, along with a wireless charging pad for smartphones. The list of features on this EV also includes over-the-air updates and a sunroof.

The Avenger EV offers a very impressive safety package. There is adaptive cruise control with lane-centering. To reduce driver fatigue, it also comes with a traffic jam assist. On top of this, Jeep has also added traffic sign recognition with automatic emergency braking that can detect pedestrians and cyclists. The safety kit of the Avenger does not end here. It also comes with a drowsy driver alert and lane-keeping assist. Furthermore, there are 360-degree parking sensors and a 180-degree rear camera supporting a drone view.

The Avenger will remain exclusive to the Europeans. But Jeep has bigger plans for the US market as it prepares to introduce the Wranger-based Recon and the mid-size Wagoneer S SUV by 2024. Specific details are still relatively scarce on these two vehicles. However, in the case of the Recon, Jeep promises extreme off-road capability. It will have off-road specific tires, underside protection, and electronically locking differentials. In addition, the brand says that the Recon will have an "impressive" approach and departure angles and, just like the Wrangler, will also get removable doors and glass.

The Wagoneer S can be considered the electric spiritual successor of the Grand Cherokee. Unlike the gasoline-powered Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer, it will offer a two-row configuration. What's also confirmed is that this electric mid-size SUV's powertrain will produce 600 horsepower and a driving range of 400 miles. It will go against the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV, Polestar 3, and the Tesla Model Y.
